Biella The Wool Company » Mission

Mission

An ever growing sector of modern consumers, both today and in the future, are being more careful when purchasing a product. Apart from it's visual appeal they want to know it's story, preferring products made with natural raw materials, with minimal impact on the environment during it's production, and in full respect of human rights.

The industrial wool processing system cannot offer full traceability from the sheep to the final consumer. Only the woolgrower can do this, subject to him having at his disposal a wool processing chain suitable to his requirements.

Also, by processing a raw material that has little individual value to the industrial world and avoiding it's traditional processing channels, linked to fashion and mass distribution, the woolgrower has the opportunity to add value to his wool product, selling through local tourist retailers and farm shops, where there are close ties to where the sheep actually grazed, therefore magnifying it's unique character, now almost unknown in todays globalization.

We are offering the woolgrower the opportunity of transforming his small lots of greasy raw wool into washed wool or dyed yarn, or sweaters and scarves or other, already packed and ready for sale at retail.

The various operations will be carried out in a processing chain offering full traceability and maximum respect for the environment. All performed in Biella, an italian wool textile district known worldwide for it's excellence in wool textile production.

The woolgrower, following research and creation of  the unique products, personalised with character and colours of the local area to  emphasise the local culture and traditions, will receive the products under his own name but with the brand Biella The Wool Company which guarantees the full traceability within the Biella textile system.
